Saribung Peak Climbing is one of the longest adventure in the Himalayas taking up to two weeks to complete the whole circuit. The trail passes valleys of Nar Phu and Namta Khola Valley. This is a moderate to strenuous trek which involves walking through rugged trails; cross high passes walk on ice and snow.

Saribung peak is part of Damodar Himalayan range and lies in Mustang district along Nepal-Tibet border. The Peak is opened for climbing in 2006, Saribung is the newest expedition peak in Nepal. Since it is just 6345m tall and falls in Upper Mustang Trekking route, it has become popular among both mountaineers and trekkers.

The highlights of Saribung peak climbing includes entering into a restricted area of Upper Mustang and visiting medieval Hidden kingdom; of Lo Manthang. Crossing of three highest passes, namely Nyi-La Pass (4,020m), Saribung La (5600m) and Kang La (5200m) will be worth a challenge to overcome. The passes affords magnificent display of Mustang Valley in the south and spectacular views of Mt. Saribung, Dhaulagiri and Mt. Damodar Himalayan ranges facing north.

The Mustang Region, especially the Hidden Valley is rich in Tibetan culture and Buddhist lifestyles. The region is home of Thakali people and Mana The trails are colorfully painted with Mani walls and fascinating monasteries such as Lury Gompa, Tsarang Gompa, Lo-Gyakar-Ghar Gompa, Tashi Lakhang and Namgyal gompa. Ghar Gompa is one of the oldest gompas built by Padmasambhava in the 8th century

You can start the trek either from Jomsom and passes thorugh Kagbeni, Lo Manthang and Nar Pu and drop to Besi Sahar or vice versa. This is purely a camping/tea house trek. Nepal Environmental Treks and Expedition handles all the logistic preparation including permits and has a team of well experienced trekking and climbing guides and professional staffs.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 01 : Arrival at Kathmandu 1,310m. Welcome by Amis Himalaya Adventure Treks member and direct transfer to Hotel with Bed & Breakfast plan.

Day 02 : in Kathmandu, Full day sightseeing with local guide, Hotel with B&B.

Day 03 : Kathmandu to Pokhara by bus (900m) 6 hrs over night at hotel with Bed & Breakfast plan.

Day 04 : Fly to Jomsom (2720m) Drive to Lo Manthang(3850 m) 3hrs over night at Tent.

Day 05 : Lo-Manthang rest for excursion over night at Tent

Day 06 : Trek from Lo-Manthang to Yara (3900m 6-7 hours over night at tent.

Day 07 : Trek to Luri Cave Monastery (4005m 3 - 4 hrs over night at Tent.

Day 08 : Trek to Ghuma Thanti (4600m 5-6 hours over night at Tent.

Day 09 : Trek Ghuma Thanti to Namta Khola (4890 m 7-8 hours over night at Tent.

Day 10 : Trek from Namta Khola to Saribung Base Camp (4950m, 6-7 hours over night at tent.

Day 11 : Acclimatization day and over night at Tent.

Day 12 : Trek to Camp I (5730m , 5-6 hours over night at Tent.

Day 13 : Summit to Saribung Peak 6346m and back to Base Camp 4950m , 8-9 hours over night at Tent.

Day 14 : Trek to Nagoru 4400m via Saribung Pass (6020m, 6 hour over night at Tent.

Day 15 : Trek from Nagoru to Phu Gaon (4080m, 5-6 hours over night at Tent.

Day 16 : Trek from Phu Gaon to Meta (3560m, 5-6 hours over night at Tent.

Day 17 : Trek to Meta (3,560m): 5 – 6 hrs over night at Tent.

Day 18 : Trek to Koto (2,600m): 5 – 6 hrs over night at Lodge.

Day 19 : Drive from Koto to Kathmandu (1860m, 7-8 hours over night at hotel with Bed & Breakfast plan.

Day 20 : Full day in Kathmandu valley overnight at Hotel with Bed & Breakfast plan.

Day 21 : Depart from Kathmandu.

Day 02 : in Kathmandu, Full day sightseeing with local guide, Hotel with B&B.

Day 03 : Kathmandu to Pokhara by bus (900m) 6 hrs over night at hotel with Bed & Breakfast plan. Drive to Pokhara by tourist bus. Between on the way we will see the natural beauty like Trisuli river which is most popular in Nepal for rafting and we will follow the way almost bank of the Trisuli and Marsyandi River when we arrive in Pokhara transfer to hotel.

Day 04 : Fly to Jomsom (2720m) Drive to Lo Manthang(3850 m) 3hrs over night at Tent. You will be land on District headquarters of Mustang and will start trek to Kagbeni, the starting point of the Upper Mustang, where you can make your eyes busy for The spectacular views of Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, Tukuche peak and Dhampus. Kagbeni is the most interesting typical Tibetan village and the entry point of the upper Mustang e xontinue frive to Cheke,

Day 05 : Lo-Manthang rest for excursion over night at Tent Another day in Lo -Manthang gives you the chance to explore its many sights; the Tall Champa Lakhang (God house,) the red Thugchen Gompa, Chyodi Gompa and the Raja's Palace; as well as to gaze at the surrounding panoramic views of the Tibetan Plateau and the Himalaya. Besides Lo-Manthangthere is two other interesting valleys worth visiting. The western valley Tingkhar, the sight of Raja's summer palace, Kimling and Phuwa as well as the Gompa of Namgyal (The Monastery of Victory) is the newest and most active Gompa in Lo. In the eastern valley lies the village of Chosar, also rich in gompas and the valley is the main trading route to Lhasa.

Day 06 : Trek from Lo-Manthang to Yara (3900m 6-7 hours over night at tent. Leave the village and keep by gently ascending going until we reach day-La which takes about an hour. This is the last point where we can see Lo-Manthang. Around 3 hours later, we reach Dhi village then we descend for about 1 hour down where we have lunch break. After lunch we pass the small stream and make a short steep climb to Yara village. It takes about 1 and half hour. We can see innumerable caves at the stone walls.

Day 07 : Trek to Luri Cave Monastery (4005m 3 - 4 hrs over night at Tent. Trek to Luri Gompa as we have day plan during this day. Treks continue through the river route to Luri cave Monastery which takes about 2 hours. There are actually two monasteries. First we visit one which is situated below of Luri Cave monastery. Then a short steep ascent brings us to Luri Cave Monastery which takes us about 30 minutes. This is the oldest and most famous cave monastery in the Mustang region which was constructed in the 15th century. It is situated at an elevation of 4005m. Inside the cave we can see a big Old Chhorten and many images and statues of Protectors and Deities. There is an also highly sacred religious text which is always closed.

Day 08 : Trek to Ghuma Thanti (4600m 5-6 hours over night at Tent. We follow the barren valley after crossing 5100meter pass; today we prepare pack lunch due to no appropriate cooking possibilities on the trekking.

Day 09 : Trek Ghuma Thanti to Namta Khola (4890 m 7-8 hours over night at Tent. In this day, we start after breakfast, the trail continues with ups and downs. After crossing another 5600meter pass we will reach High Altitude Damodar Kunda. We need to make lunch pack due to no appropriate cooking possibilities in the trail. We continue to Namta Khola after passing Lake.

Day 10 : Trek from Namta Khola to Saribung Base Camp (4950m, 6-7 hours over night at tent. Walk in the Tibetan plateau gaining high altitude with passing high traverses until reaching Base Camp. We need to make lunch pack due to no appropriate cooking possibilities in the trail.

Day 11 : Acclimatization day and over night at Tent. Today is free day for exploring the surrounding hills and acclimatizing to high altitude for the further expedition.

Day 12 : Trek to Camp I (5730m , 5-6 hours over night at Tent. In the morning, after breakfast, trek to Camp I, the trail is very hard because of the snowy. We will climb up very slowly with gaining altitude. We need to make lunch pack due to no appropriate cooking possibilities in the trail.

Day 13 : Summit to Saribung Peak 6346m and back to Base Camp 4950m , 8-9 hours over night at Tent. At early in the morning, Saribung summit, than descend down to normal base camp.

Day 14 : Trek to Nagoru 4400m via Saribung Pass (6020m, 6 hour over night at Tent. Early morning after breakfast, we will traverse over the Saribung pass and trek steep down through the snow capped trail and follow the small stream until reaching Nagoru. We need to make pack lunch due to no appropriate cooking possibilities during the trail.

Day 15 : Trek from Nagoru to Phu Gaon (4080m, 5-6 hours over night at Tent. We will start our trek from our camp and walk on the Tibetan plateau and barren valley viewing very good view of snow capped peaks until reaching Phu Gaon. Now we are in one of the unique Lost/ Hidden Valleys. We can see their cultures, natural diversity, and religion of the ethnic groups like Lama, Gurung and Ghale. The people are depending on subsistence agricultures, animal breeding and seasonal migrations. The very old Buddhist Monastery known as Tashi Lakhang Monastery is listed out of the 108 world’s great Buddhist Monasteries; it is believed to be the last monastery constructed by Karmapa Rinpoche. We have a great view of Himlung Himal and other snow peaks.

Day 16 : Trek from Phu Gaon to Meta (3560m, 5-6 hours over night at Tent. Morning after breakfast, we will walk on the Tibetan plateau and pass the kani/gate end of the village and drop down in the narrow valley and arrive in Kyang where we just see the remnants, particularly the ruined forts of the Khampa settlement (the place which Khampa refugees from Tibet once captured and lived illegally) at places like Jhunam, Chyakhu and Kyang. Then we trek continue until Meta. We can see the very spectacular view of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal

Day 17 : Trek to Meta (3,560m): 5 – 6 hrs over night at Tent.

Day 18 : Trek to Koto (2,600m): 5 – 6 hrs over night at Lodge.

Day 19 : Drive from Koto to Kathmandu (1860m, 7-8 hours over night at hotel with Bed & Breakfast plan. The trail passes small villages until Timang through the Pine forest which takes about 2 hours. We can see short glimpse of Mt. Manaslu and other snow peaks and drop down to Danque through the knee crunching trail.

Day 20 : Full day in Kathmandu valley overnight at Hotel with Bed & Breakfast plan.

Day 21 : Depart from Kathmandu.
