Langtang Valley Trek

Despite its close proximity to Kathmandu, the Langtang Valley Trekking reaches into an area as wild as any of the Tibetan highlands on a trail less travelled by tourists. The Langtang Valley Trek not only offers an idyllic landscape, but also an insight into the unique culture of the Tamang tribe who inhabit these highlands. The people of this region bordering Tibet follow Buddhism religion and a culture similar to their Tibetan ancestors.

The Langtang Valley Trek is ideal for those who have a tight itinerary but wish to experience the high Himalayas with its unique culture without the risk of possible delays caused by air travel. Moreover, the beautiful rhododendron and bamboo forests full of wildlife, majestic waterfalls and the snow-capped Himalayas will make this trek a once in a life time experience into the land of the Buddha.

The Langtang Valley Trek begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, from where we begin our trek up stone stairs to a village called Lama Hotel. The trail to Langtang village levels out before we arrive at the famous KanyanjingGompa. The Gompa, nestled peacefully in the Himalayas, seems to be in synchrony with the nature it is surrounded with.
From KyanjinGompa there are two equally awesome peaks to climb, depending on your stamina. The more challenging is TsergoRi, 4984m, a 6hr or 7hr round trip; the relatively easy one, KyanjinRi, 4773m, which takes a mere two to three hours from KyanjinGompa.

After exploring and experiencing the area around KyanjinGompa, we will return on the same trail to Syabrubesi, from where we drive back to Kathmandu.
Amis Himalaya Adventure Treks recommends trekking from October to November, or in March and April. This trek is also suitable for a winter (Christmas) Trek as the weather in this region is not so severe. Though the summer is quite wet, and you need to combat leeches, this trek takes you so close to the Himalayas that you get great views that are impossible on any other trek at that time of year
