Physical Condition Experience Requirements
Walking in the high lands of Dhaulagiri region usually requires 5-6 hours of walking everyday and some days even up to 8-10 hours- such as in high passes. Amis Himalaya Adventure r suggests we get prepared with about 10-12 km of walking or jogging exercise every day before 3 months of our trip so we will be able to walk in physically demanding high-altitude conditions and remote areas for many days for hours at a time.
To join the Dhaulagiri Trek and to complete it successfully and enjoyably, we must have: lots of willpower, ability to tolerate harsh conditions, very high level of fitness and good health. It is vital that participants with pre-existing medical problems or conditions make these known to Amis Himalaya Adventure at the time of booking. Medical and evacuation expenses are the responsibility of the participant. It is also important that we consult our doctor for vaccination and other medical requirements for our trip. Our Amis Himalaya Adventure reserves the right to require a medical certificate prior to booking our trip.
Typical day in Trekking ...
At dawn, our Sherpa wakes us up and offers a cup of warm tea with a smile. After freshening and finishing up our tea, we will have a hearty breakfast before setting off. After approximately 3 or more hours of trekking, we take a break for lunch somewhere in the trail. Throughout the day, we will take frequent rest breaks and take time to admire and take pictures of the fascinating scenery. After a relaxing lunch, we typically spend around 2-3 hours or even more sometimes on the trail before reaching our destination. Once we reach our destination for the night, we take a brief rest, and have a light snack with tea or coffee. Further, we might even enjoy a short walk through the village and surrounding neighborhoods or enjoy some games or chats with our group members while the cook and helpers prepare dinner. Finally, our guide briefs us on the next days program before we go to sleep.
Best Time to Travel
The best months are September, October and November during the Autumn season and mid March, April and May during the spring season.
